Riverdale is residential neighborhood in the northwest area of the Bronx. It is about three square miles and is bordered by Yonkers, Westchester, the Hudson River and the Harlem River. There are five sections of Riverdale: Spuyten Duyvil, South Riverdale, Central Riverdale, Fieldston and North Riverdale. There is also a very private community called Frieldston that was declared an historic district in 2006. Residential choices in Riverdale are aplenty. One can choose from multi-story apartment buildings dating from the 1950's and 60's to large, elegant houses built in the early 20th Century, mostly in Georgian- and Tudor-revival styles. Recently, Central Riverdale experienced a housing boom, adding a multitude of high-rise condominium buildings. |
