Cathy taught me a lot about real estate in New York City. She's extremely good with first-time buyers and made my educational and buying experience useful and fun. She worked hard to understand my preferences and she actually listened to what I did and didn't want. She was responsive to all my questions and I felt quite comfortable working with Cathy and with the buying process.
She was very hands-on during the entire process: on a daily basis, including weekends, she provided me with updated information regarding any available apartments. She showed me at least 7-8 apartments and prepared a hard-copy folder for every one of them before viewing.
Cathy means business only, is extremely professional and thorough, as well as knowledgeable and flexible. What I also found to be remarkable about Cathy was her punctuality and tireless work and willingness to do whatever it took to help me find the ideal apartment. She understood what was important to me, and she never tried to push a property on me that wasn't exactly what I was interested in.

Very Satisfied Smooth Process I was very satisfied with the service. I thought that Cathy Shim did a very fine job - she was both patient and thorough. I put off looking for and getting an apartment till the very last second. I simply just didn't want to be bothered with the whole process. My first time around using a broker was just stressful and miserable. However, this time around was the complete opposite. Everyone I interacted with at AC was extremely nice to me and went out of their way to help me out.

I recently approached year two in New York City, and thus, was looking for my second apartment. I remember how horrible this experience can be, so I searched for help in finding a place that matched my needs.

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation about my Real Estate Broker, Cathy Shim. I had the pleasure of meeting Cathy about 8 months ago, when I began my search into buying my first apartment in NYC. I contacted her via a listing that I was interested in, and from the minute I spoke to her, I was thoroughly impressed.
I had been looking at places for several weeks at that point and had met several brokers that were very anxious to get my information and flood me with apartment listings, but they never took the time to get to know what I was really looking for, or the reasons why certain apartment features were not important to me. Cathy completely changed my perception of this. From our first conversation, she got to know me, and all the details of what I was looking for. This was a complete change from other brokers out there that would just try to sell the most expensive apartment. Every meeting was very well researched, she gave me perspectives on the buildings and the neighborhoods and how the pricing trends were looking.
I had a budget of what I could spend, and Cathy was very respectful of that budget. She always kept to apartments that were within my reach, and if they weren’t, then there was a reason for it, such as knowing that the maintenance was extremely low, so overall, monthly payments would be the same, or knowing that the apartment was overpriced, and the owner might be willing to negotiate.
Cathy found the apartment that I just purchased, and at the closing, the entire team (lawyer, mortgage broker and seller’s lawyer and seller’s broker) there commented on how this was the “easiest closing ever.” I attribute all of that to Cathy’s persistence, follow up and just general pleasantness to work with. From the time I saw the apartment to my closing date was about 10 weeks – practically unheard of in terms of buying a co-op in NYC. She made my dream a reality for me, and I hope to work with her in the future.
